Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello, hello! My goodness, has it really been so long since I last updated here?

I just wanted to pop in to say “Happy Thanksgiving!!” I wish I could send you all flowers, but these watercolor blooms will have to do. I hope my mother-in-law isn’t reading this because this is a card I painted for her that I just posted in the mail.

It’s been a whirlwind of a year full of HUGE events. So whirlwind, in fact, that I can’t even wrap my head around all that’s happened. The Japan trip changed my life, for one thing. I haven’t even shared any of it with you here.

So much. SO much. And Thanksgiving is an excellent time to reflect upon it all. I have something fun to share with you next week, but my postings will continue to be sporadic for a while longer as I finish up the next book (I turned in most of my art, but there are still a few things left to do). I miss keeping up with the good ole blog, but I know my limits. I almost made it through an entire year without getting sick, but alas, the deadline crunch got to me and I succumbed to a cold for a couple of days this week. I’m on the mend, however, and all is well.

Anyway! I am sending you all big, big love from rainy, chilly, cozy Seattle. I’m so grateful to have this space, even when I’m not here as often as I used to be. I have a good feeling that 2018 may see a resurgence of blog posts. We shall see…

I hope that you are celebrating all that is wonderful in life in some form, no matter where you are in the world! xo

  1. Big love to you too, my friend out west! It was a momentous year here as well but almost invisible to the naked eye:) Furoku and your blog and books continue to delight me and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family as well!

  2. Hey! Happy Thanksgiving and good job for working hard on your book. I must say, that although I miss reading your blog, I have kind of gotten out of the habit of checking here. so it all kind of works out. It is great to hear that you are working on great things. Hello to everyone and I hope everyone is well.

    1. Thank you, Max! Ha, I’ve kinda gotten out of the habit of updating the blog — must work on that! I’ve been very lucky and have had so many amazing projects to keep me occupied, though, so I can’t complain! I hope all is well up in your neck of the woods too. 🙂

  3. On a whim, popped by and saw that you had posted! Sorry to hear that you’ve succumbed to a stress cold – hopefully you’re on the mend by now!
Someday, we’d all love to hear about your life-changing trip to Japan! Having visited S. Korea with Katie last year, I understand a bit the impact living/interacting in a different culture can have. I”m sure you had an incredible experience – looking forward to someday hearing about it:)
Happy belated Thanksgiving to you . . . my son was home from college so it was indeed a good one for me:) Easy to be grateful when you are surrounded by those you love dearly.

    1. So amazing that your son is in college now, Lucinda! I bet the trip was so meaningful for Katie — I know that K was blown away and loved every moment we were in Japan. My mom joined us for part of the trip, which made it extra special. I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to doing a full post about the trip but it’s probably a good idea given my spotty memory. I tell you, now that I don’t update here as much, I feel like I’m not preserving important (and seemingly not important yet very lovely) moments in my life as much. I love looking back through my archives! Hope all is well with you and your sweet family!
